Nick McLaughlin, the bearded cop wearing the cute sloth hat first appears in Vampire Town after Bulk Bogan snitches on DIO when he murdered the Head Vampire. DIO and the cop even smoke weed together. DIO tells one of the police officers, Finnegan Pierce, that Edgar Kohler sells him crack, but the officer doesn't mind. They are seen again at the Gym, investigating a murder committed by a drugged-out Bogan. After Liquid Bogan breaks the house's toilet, DIO calls the police and demands them to shoot the toilet for not working properly, angering one of the officers, who points a gun at him and then leaves. They appear regularly at the background during Part 2, as DIO is frequently prank-calling them. At the end of Part 1, they arrest Bulk Bogan for shooting a ghost. They arrest Zest twice, as he somehow managed to escape prison the first time.
The Cops reappear again later in when DIO frames Johnny Zest for the murder of the missing cop. After DIO escapes jail with his Stand, one of the cops who made his arrest, Bret Blank, explodes into his house, dressed casually to avoid suspicion, in order to recapture the vampire, but is instead killed by him with a machete. The cops first made their debut after Bulk Bogan calls them to arrest Dio Brando for the murders of Mortimer Goth and Bill Gates.
